Reception Genesis

Art Week! We made 3D animal sculptures from junk modelling!

Our new story is Rainbow Fish! We made some under the sea pictures!

PSHCE - Looking after our beautiful world.

Snail madness! We found lots of snails in Wellie Wednesday - We looked at them closely and when we released them back we had a snail race!

Mary Procession - Celebrating Mary, Mother to Jesus and to us.

The Life Education Tent! We had fun learning about our bodies with Harold the Giraffe!

Talk for Writing - Our new story is Whatever Next, about a teddy who has a picnic on the moon using a box as a rocket! Look at some of the ways we have been retelling this story:

Being Kind - In PSHE this week we looked at and acted out ways we can help and be kind to the special people in our lives.

Easter Symbols - We reflected on what Jesus went through at Easter time, and created our own Easter Symbols through art and design.

Author visit from Andy Seed! He read us some of his stories, taught us some poems which we could join in with and shared some funny stories about his ginger cat Juno!

Wellie Wednesday! This week we were set a challenge to find 3 sticks of different sizes and put them in order. Great job Reception!

Our visit from GB Athlete David Smith. He helped us do some circuit training and then we listened when he told us about how he trains for the high jump!

PE! Practising our throwing and catching!

Mother's Day Flowers!

We planned a charity sponsored bike ride, to raise money for Banardos. We made invitations, posters and all rode our bikes and scooters for 15 minutes. We invited our grown ups and raised over ÂŁ100. Amazing Reception!

We're going on a Bear Hunt! Look at all the fun activities we have been doing for a new story this week!

Our Lent Tree! We made promises on leaves and have displayed them in our reflective area to help us to remember them during Lent.

Where the Wild Things are! We acted out this story with Polly who ran the workshop for us. We had so much fun! We love this story!

Rumble in the Jungle - This weeks continuous provision activities.

RE - Love thy Neighbour. Reception made and delivered gifts to Pre-School and our Year 6 buddies, to show them that we love and care about them. We need to love everyone in God's world as we are all part of God's family .

Our Special People: Reception have been reflecting on who is special to them and have drawn and labelled pictures to represent this.

Christmas Lunch!

Reception were all fantastic in the Nativity! We are so proud of you!

Father Tony! Father Tony came in to talk to us about how we can prepare for Advent. He told us how we can prepare at school and home, as well as what the church does in preparation.

Christmas Science Day! We made exploration bottles and learnt all about magnets! We had so much fun investigating!

Wellie Wednesday! We made a GIANT Gingerbread Man out of natural resources this week!

Road Safety Week - We learnt how to safely cross the road with Stop, Look, Listen and Think. We explored how zebra and pellican crossings work and had a practise outside. Miss Hall pretended to be the traffic light! We also learnt about wearing bright colours in the dark to be seen, wearing a helmet when riding bikes/scooters and being in a car seat with your seatbelt on when in a car.

Decorating Gingerbread Men! We decorated Gingerbread Men as this is our story for the next few weeks! We helped make the icing and added chocolate buttons for the eyes and buttons. They were so yummy!

A visit from a dentist! We learnt how to keep our teeth clean and how to prevent cavities! She showed us how to brush our teeth properly and which food and drinks have lots of sugar in, which is bad for our teeth.

A visit from firefighter Kate! We learnt a lot about being a firefighter. Kate taught us to ring 999 if we see a fire, to always wear a seatbelt in the car, to test our smoke alarms at home and so much more! She also told us all about her job!

Wellie Wednesday! We collected natural resources and created woodland animal pictures with them!

Meeting our Year 6 buddies! Today our Year 6 buddies came to introduce themselves and then we had a play together. We are looking forward to getting to know our buddies better and spending more time with them!

Our first time meeting Father Tony from St Thomas More Church! We were able to ask him lots of questions. We now know lots about Father Tony and are looking forward to seeing him in the church soon!

Wellbeing Week! This week we have explored yoga, carried out random acts of kindness and found mindfulness in drawing parts of the natural world.

National Poetry Day!

To tie in with National Smile Day we created a short poem about what makes us smile. We added in some actions and performed our poem as a class. We hope you like it!

Outdoor PE! - We played with the parachute and practiced balancing with beanbags on our heads!

Wellie Wednesday! We had great fun exploring the grounds of our school, with our magnifying glasses and clipboards!
