FULL GOVERNING BOARD MEETINGS
STRUCTURE CHANGE AND FORMAT OF GOVERNORS MEETINGS IN
2018/19
At the FGB meeting on Thursday 5 July 2018 governors considered the effectiveness of the move to full governing board meetings only, as agreed and ratified at the FGB 6 July 2017.
The format helps with governor’s involvement and recognises the difficulties for those governors who work full-time or have family commitments. It also means the FGB can concentrate on key issues and strategy with the requirement to attend fewer meetings.
During 2017/18 a number of working parties were held to focus on specific issues and objectives;
- Finance – Budget
- Finance – SFVS
- Resourcing and recruitment
- Policy reviews
- Scheme of Delegation and Risk Register
- Nursery management
There was a quorate of governors at each working party together with relevant staff to advise and support, and/or recommendations were brought to the FGB for ratification. Governors proposed that we should continue with this format for 2018/19 and was ratified by the Full Governing Board 5 July 2018.
The Link Governor model will continue with each governor expected to visit the school in line with the Governor Visits policy and will submit a written report to the FGB at least once in an academic year.
