Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy 2023

At St Thomas More Catholic Primary School we take our responsibility for safeguarding our children very seriously.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) in the school are:

  • Mrs N Tippen
  • Mrs S Cerikan
  • Mrs S Counsell

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that may further affect the pupil’s welfare and safety.

A consent sharing form is used, from the Early Help Partnership.

Our staff are Child Protection trained. We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism. Staff are trained in the Prevent Strategy, as well as Female Genital Mutilation. We understand that in both situations an immediate response to the police is vital.

We use government documents for safeguarding and follow the Gloucestershire Children’s Safeguarding Executive (GSCE) protocols.
