St Thomas More Catholic Primary School
Inspiration, Celebration and Education
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On Wednesday 20th March we are excited to have a visit from the author Hannah Shaw. She will share her stories, work with children in work shops and sign books that have been purchased. Children are also invited to come into school on this day wearing their pyjamas!
Over the Easter Holidays, Educraft we will be running a FREE event for children in the Cheltenham areas who are entitled to benefits related free school meals. This event is funded by Gloucester Council - please see the flyer below for further information.
A message from the our parish:
A SPECIAL VISITOR
On Saturday, 16th March, we will welcome Bishop Declan to St Thomas More Parish Centre, where he will celebrate Mass with Fr Joby and stay on afterwards for a cup of tea and a chance to speak to the parishioners.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our parish to wish our Bishop well - to pray with him and for him in the important and demanding role he fills.
The Mass is at St Thomas More Parish at 5pm on Saturday. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet Bishop Declan. We hope to see you there!
Great news!! The broken mains waterpipe has been replaced today and we now have water and heating back in school. Contractors will be back in school tomorrow to carry out the remedial work that needs to happen before school is safe to open for children again.
This means that school will be able to reopen to pupils on Monday 11th March and we will finally be able to celebrate World Book Day, so please can all pupils wear their dressing up outfits to school on Monday. 😃
Good afternoon,
We have had some good news that the test for asbestos has returned with a negative result. This means that the repairs can now be completed. However, this will take around 2 days to ensure the school site is safe for all children and staff. School will hopefully reopen on Monday 11th March. We will confirm this on Friday.
We will still celebrate World Book Day in school when we reopen and will send information out as soon as we are able to.
Teachers will continue to add work to class pages on the school website.
Thank you for your continued support.
Following the flooding, we have had to have the ceiling tested to check that there is not any asbestos in the exposed area. We are expecting the results tomorrow and this will determine how quickly we can reopen the school. Sadly this means that school will remain closed tomorrow. Home Learning will continue to be placed on the Class Pages of our school website. We are doing everything that we can to get school open as soon as possible, but for Health & Safety reasons we have to remain closed until the problems can be rectified.
Packed lunches are available during the closure for every child registed for Free School Meals. You will have been contacted if your child is eligible. Lunches can be collected from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm every day.
Unfortunately school will remain closed tomorrow following the flooding yesterday, as we still have no water supply and limited electricity. Please see your Class Pages for home learning. We are doing everything that we can to get school open as soon as possible, but for Health & Safety reasons we have to remain closed until the problems can be rectified.
Due to a severe flood inside the school, we have had no option but to close the school. Messages will be sent out on Class Dojo and home learning for every class has been placed on the school website.
We apologise for the inconvenience but as we have no water or electricty we have no option for the safety and welfare of both pupils and staff.
The next Move More Webinar will take place on Wednesday the 6th of March at 1pm. This session will cover Tantrums, Meltdowns and Shutdowns.
Marijana will be talking about differences between these three, what is typical for primary aged children and ways of responding to them. More information is included in the flyer attached to this email.
As always, parents and carers will need to register for this event. Here is the registration link:
