The School Council meets every fortnight to discuss issues relating to the life of the school including attendance and things the children would like to see improved or changed.
There are two representatives from each class who are elected annually by their peers; they discuss the agenda with the rest of their class before and after each meeting. A display board in the hall shows the current members of the Council.
Earlier in 2015, children in the school council saw the need for a friendship stop to be used during break times and lunch times. Children will meet new friends by sitting on the bench when they feel lonely or have no one to play with. The school council members took great care in choosing the bench and the stop which appear in their playgrounds.
A child in year 6 thinks “The friendship bench and stop will really help all the children in our school. It has already started to be used.”
“It is a really good way of making new friends” said McCauley.
