We plan exciting and stimulating activities for your child. Staff meet on a weekly basis to look at what we want the children to learn, what their interests are and the resources we will need to carry out these activities.
Each planning sheet has areas for spontaneous planning, child led interests and adult led. We ensure that each area of the 7 areas of development according to the Early Years Foundation Stage is covered. These are:
In addition to this, each child will benefit from small group time, where the learning is more individualised according to the areas of development we want to focus on.
For example if we want to encourage a child’s listening skills, we might play Sound Lotto. This focused time is documented with the next steps of learning highlighted so staff know which area to develop next.
All children benefit from PE in the school hall of St Thomas More Catholic Primary School on a weekly basis. Children can learn balancing and climbing skills in a safe and secure environment. We also have use of the Forest School within the grounds of the school, where children can learn about their natural environment.
We are recently introducing some Number land intervention in the school, where children can recognise their numbers, count and match though fun based activities.
