EYFS – Genesis
Welcome to Genesis Class 2017.
We hope you had a wonderful summer holiday. In Genesis class this year your teacher will be Mrs Davis. Sometimes Mr Bracey will also teach you. Your classroom teaching assistant will be Mrs Dooner.
Please click EYFS Genesis Class to read our class newsletter for this autumn term 2017. In this newsletter you will learn all about our new class name, the learning we will be focusing on this term and important dates for your diary. Keep checking back for some more new learning as we begin to explore this term.
Welcome Visit from the Fire Service
We have been lucky enough to have a visit from the Gloucestershire Fire Service. We learnt how to keep ourselves safe and what to do if we saw a fire. We went inside the fire engine and even got to squirt the hose! We impressed the fire fighters with the facts we have learnt in our Fire Fighter report in Literacy.[dmalbum path=”/wp-content/uploads/dm-albums/Visit from the fire fighters/”/]
We have enjoyed talking about what we want to be when we grow up. Can you guess what we want to be?[dmalbum path=”/wp-content/uploads/dm-albums/EYFS1 Aspirations Week/”/]
EYFS Theme – Term 1 and 2 2016
… Marvellous Me
EYFS will be learning about their marvellous selves this term. We will be talking about what makes us unique and special. During the first few weeks we will be finding out about our classroom, families and school community. Our theme sessions will be focussing on who helps us at home and at school. There will be visits from different services such as the Fire Service, St John’s Ambulance and Police. We will be learning some ways to keep healthy and safe and will be preparing our own healthy smoothie.
Learning about God’s Creation
During our RE sessions we have been learning about Creation. Together, we thought about ‘Who is God?’ and how we know about him and his special jobs. We talked about how he made everything around us. Some children wondered how God made them and we appreciated how we are all different. This week we will be going on a hunt around our school grounds for God’s creations.
During our ‘Busy Learning’ Sessions we have explored the areas and resources in the classrooms and outside. WE have been fantastic at initiating our own learning and making our own choices about what we want to do. We have practised planning with our friends about what we want to do and in which areas. In review time we have even been on T.V saying what we have tried out and how it went![dmalbum path=”/wp-content/uploads/dm-albums/Busy Learning/”/]
EYFS Theme – Term 1 and 2 2015

Learning about God’s Creation
During our RE sessions we have been learning about the story of Creation. Together, we retold the story of ‘In the Beginning’ using material and props. This week we went on a hunt around our school grounds for God’s creations. After our hunt, Luke asked ‘How did God make this world?’, we were all very impressed with his BIG question, so decided to create a ‘wonder wall’ in our classroom for other big questions. Some of us had our own ideas for how God made our world – Tyler thought that ‘God lost his keys so made the world’, Jake thought that ‘God waved a wand’.
EYFS Welcome Liturgy
The children in Y5 and Y6 presented their EYFS buddy with their name during our special welcome Liturgy on Wednesday 21st November. The EYFS staff and children decorated the alter cloth with their name and handprints. Readings and prayers were led by the Y5 and Y6 children who have taken their role as buddies to the new EYFS class very seriously. As a thank you to the Y5 and Y6 buddies, the EYFS children decorated biscuits to give out after the Liturgy. Many thanks to the parents and carers who came to watch and support their child at their first Liturgy.

Our Learning Journey
We have been spending time looking through our learning journey so far. Our teacher asked us questions about our learning in group times, the ideas we had in our busy time and what we will do next to develop our learning even further. Some of us could see a big difference in the things we can do since starting school. We can’t wait to share our fantastic progress with our adults at our next Stay and Play on the 25th November @ 2pm.
